Small World

“The small world phenomenon is the hypothesis that everyone in the world can be reached through a short chain of social acquaintances. The concept gave rise to the famous phrase six degrees of separation after a 1967 small world experiment by psychologist Stanley Milgram which found that two random US citizens were connected by an average of six acquaintances. However, after more than thirty years its status as a description of heterogeneous social networks still remains an open question. European top psycho/logist Dr. Dexter Crowley has now done some research on his own.

It’s 4:20 in the morning, I’m tired and just longing for some acoustic entertainment to accompany my nocturnal photoshopping sprees, so going to winamp.com and installing the latest build to check out some good old web radio. So there, in my media library, right next to the internet radio, there’s now an unfamiliar link… “Internet TV”… uh-hm, well let’s check this out. About 500 stations show up. Mostly pr0n, I might as well add. Which I surprisingly did not click on first! Instead I randomly choose gamer-FM, an obscure channel with all sorts of weird things happening. After a minute, I seem to recognize a face… “Hey, I know this guy… Isn’t that…?” – Mr. Nagelfluh and the three fabulous Masters of the Universe, indeed. With my very own live visuals running in the background, mind you. Small world? Or is it just nfo+friends finally taking over the world?
